← Along with Yeats and Beckett, Shaw is just one of a handful of Irish Nobel laureates, and during his life he was an ardent Fabian, vegetarian, atheist, and gardener as well as playwright. His most famous work, Pygmalion, is perhaps best known in its musical version (My Fair Lady). Pygmalion is one of the earlier plays to make the leap from stage to silver screen, and the version with Leslie Howard is still a classic worth viewing (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0030637/). The annual Shaw Festival in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Canada, pays tribute to the full range of Shaw's theatrical art. This summer's production, "Mrs. Warren's Profession," was originally banned from public performance for its subject matter; see a clip about the play and read an interesting paper at (http://www.shawfest.com/web/content.asp?docid=1_3_3_6).
